Tiange Yu

Tiange Yu

Tiange Yu (born 1998) is a Chinese artist living and working in London. In 2022 he graduated with a MA in Painting from the Royal College of Arts.

Yu defines himself as a curator of spaces, a composer of color and lines, and a director of fantasy. Drawing inspiration from theatrical scenery, ballet, fashion runways, and botanical elements, he combines his imagination with these elements to create a virtual landscape of joy, ambiguity, pleasure, and escapism.

His work blurs the boundaries between figuration and abstraction, embracing the unpredictability that comes with it. Yu sees painting as a rhythmic composition, striking a balance between rationality and emotional expression.

His work has been exhibited in European and Asian countries. Recent exhibition included: ‘Utopia’, Août’ gallery, Beirut; ‘And They Lived Sadly Ever After’, Tube
Culture Hall, Milano; ‘Look Mum No Hands’, Beadvisors Department, London; ‘Raw’, Soho Revue, London(2022); The 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, Jinan Art Museum, Jinan, China(2020)
