“Through painting, I use materiality to reaffirm the material world. The vocabulary of images I use are idiosyncratic, but also serve as evidence of my biography. My personal aesthetic evolved from sensibilities that hearken back to my youth. I’ve never outgrown the clarity of imagery endemic to cartoons. Because of this persistent interest, I have purposefully adopt palettes and compositions from cartoons and other graphic visual cultures to create narrative driven paintings.” (Loc Huynh)
